"Annacdotes"

1. The other day, Anna was playing with my hair and pretended to take a bite out of it.
"I ate your hair," she said.
"You did?" I asked. "Did it taste good?"
"Yeah."
"What did it taste like?" I asked.
"Um . . . it was crumterble." (Her word for "comfortable.")

That cracked me up. So funny in a nonsensical way.

2. When she counts, Anna gets all the way to 11 and then says, "fourteen, sixteen, twelve, thirteen, and eleventeen!" As though that's what she was always aiming for.

3. At the end of her bath the other night, to encourage her to exit the bath happily (she could spend all day in the bath if I let her), we said goodbye to each one of her toys as we dried them off. I said, "See you later, bottle." She one-upped me and said, "See you later, bottle. Enjoy!"

4. I know I already blogged about Anna's word for glove (glub), but it's still on my list of favorites. Joining the list tonight is "finnder" (finger) and "thumteem" (something). Adorable. I have to make a concerted effort to not squeeze her to death when she comes up to me and says things like, "Mom, I need to tell you thumteem."

See post

The other day, I wrote Trevor an email while he was at school with the subject "worst day ever." The email started with "see subject." I gave two more extremely short sentences, detailing why the day had reached said level of doom, and then ended.

For some reason, we got to talking later about how it would be really funny to change it up and put "see email" in the subject line. I don't know why, but that struck me as really super funny. I still have leftover laughs about it.

And then I thought you could do the same thing with a blog post. I guess titles are perhaps a little different than subjects and both do come in handy at times, but sometimes when I'm tired of being clever, they're just generally an annoyance.

So I'll leave it up to you. Funny? or Had to be there?

Snippets of our trip to Utah

And now for the holiday post, as promised, if not fashionably late.

So looking back at the pictures I took in Utah, I realized that I took very few and very random pictures over our 10-day trip. Here is basically all I have for your viewing pleasure, which will tell about our holiday there.

Playing Rock Band at Trevor's parents' home. (Don't you love how Anna's playing the drums AND the tamborine, all while she's on the phone?)

Anna with the other Banks grandkids: Jedrik and twins Brayden and Xiomara.

There was so much snow! Flying home to Utah for Christmas did my heart good. I walked out into the cold after we arrived and yelled (in my head), "Now, THIS is winter! THIS is Christmas!" It felt so good to me. I tried to tell myself that the holiday was about more than the weather, but the snow still made my Christmas complete.

Trevor's brother Devan, my bumble-of-snow-clothes daughter, and Trevor

eating the snow, of course

Aunt Steph reading and acting out Little Red Riding Hood with the coolest doll ever, with Anna and some Scoresby cousins

It's a bit blurry, but you can see that it was quite the attraction. I love how Anna's palling around with Aiden in both pictures. I didn't even notice that before.

Anna on Christmas morning with the little kitchen Trevor's mom (and dad and brother) MADE. It's truly AMAZING. They're amazing. Grandma and Great Grandma stocked it with pots and pans and food aplenty. Anna started washing her hands in the little sink while it was still half-covered in wrapping paper. She absolutely loves it.

A random picture with Aunt Steph. Cute stuff.

And that's it. I told you they were random. We had a wonderful time, running all over creation to see friends, buy last-minute presents, make Christmas cookies and caramels with Steph, dye my hair AGAIN, and hit the Utah Big Lots. But most of all, we loved spending time with our families. Our Polish Christmas last year will never be forgotten, but this year it was so nice to be back with family . . . and in lots and lots of glorious snow.

Merry New Year!

I'm a little behind, but I still have something to say. We hope everyone's Christmas was merry and bright and that you will all have a very happy new year.

Love,
Ashley, Trevor, and Anna
