I went on a jean hunt a couple weeks ago and came home with a pair of these for $17. I couldn't NOT buy these pants. (I also found two pairs of jeans that day—it was like Christmas.) Anyway, when I took these bright-as-the-noonday-sun pants to the register, the guy who worked there said, "Man, doesn't everyone need a pair of these?"
I wholeheartedly agreed (and still agree). "Totally," I said, nodding my head.
He said, "We also had some in mustard yellow, but they're all sold out. Everyone needs a pair of those too."
I wholeheartedly disagreed.
Mustard yellow is a gross color that only a small percentage of the population can wear without looking sickly. I fall into the majority, however, so no mustard yellow anything for me, thanks.
But I will take bright peony pink corduroy pants. The minute you put them on, they'll cheer you and everyone you see right up. You can even see the pink glare in their faces, they're just that bright.
I have a pair of those. Wore it a lot when I was dating/engaged to Adam.
ReplyDeleteOh my word. Pink pants. good thing you've already your your man, girl. now give me some bright ORANGE cord pants and I think my heart would melt. Maybe it's the color that turns us each on. Good luck wearing them. you should match it with a pink top. groovy. or ... nerd alert?

But... i feel like, if you fall into what you have designated the sickly majority, wearing mustard cords is not as bad as wearing a mustard TOP, because said sickly is probably a combination of the mustard and some kind of blonde hair.

I really love the pants you bought.....but mustard yellow?!? I must admit - I love the color. I own at least 3 items in that color! Do I look sickly? I can't ask Russ - he would have no clue and wouldn't be honest with me anyway......what should I do? Seriously my favorite shirt right now is mustard yellow...oh dear.

ReplyDeleteAnd that brings me to my reply to Natalie—No offense intended. I'm sure you look delightful in your mustard yellow items. :D I just have a complexion and coloring that repels the color: I look like I'm about to lose my lunch anytime mustard yellow gets close to my face. But I think it does work for other people, for sure. Just like shocking pink might work for some (me) and not others (brittny), but I might be favoring one color over the other...maybe.
Oh not offended at all - and to be honest my mom always told me blondes don't look good in yellow and so I never owned one yellow item of clothing until this last year! And - I kind of don't care - ha ha - so if you see me try not to lose your lunch on me - ha ha!
